Leicester City is apparently back in the hunt for Patrick Roberts and would like to nab him during negotiations with Manchester City for the £60-million sale of Riyad Mahrez.

It was reported last week that City was close to securing a deal for Mahrez along with Napoli's Jorginho, but The Telegraph's John Percy understands Leicester would like to secure the arrival of Roberts to help replace the Algerian.

Roberts joined City from Fulham for £11 million in July 2015, but has since spent most of his time on loan deals with Scottish giant Celtic. The 21-year-old winger is a firm favourite in Parkhead, winning three league titles in green and white, but is coming off the back of a campaign marred by injuries. Percy believes the Premier League champion values Roberts at £15 million.

Mahrez was close to signing for Pep Guardiola's side in January, but City's offers were below the Foxes' huge £95-million asking price. The Algerian subsequently spent some time away from the East Midlands because he "needed some time to think" after not being granted a transfer from the club.

Where he would fit into Manchester City's embarrassment of riches in attack is a mystery. Guardiola is already able to use one of Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, and even Kevin De Bruyne off the right flank, so Mahrez, currently a nailed-on starter for Leicester, would find himself in an intense battle for minutes.
