San Antonio Spurs center Jakob Poeltl is expected to miss several games after entering the NBA's health and safety protocols Wednesday, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
It's unclear if Poeltl tested positive for COVID-19 or was deemed a close contact to an individual that contracted the virus.
The Austrian big man has been a bright spot for the Spurs, averaging a career-high 13.9 points, 9.7 boards, 2.6 assists, and 1.1 blocks over seven appearances this season. He ranks third in the NBA with 14 contested shots per game.
Reserve big men Drew Eubanks and Thaddeus Young could see increased minutes during Poeltl's absence.
