Orlando Magic center Wendell Carter will be re-evaluated in approximately three weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a fractured metacarpal in his hand, the team announced Saturday.

The injury occurred during the Magic's victory over the Utah Jazz on Thursday.

Orlando wasn't just without Carter against the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday. Point guard Markelle Fultz missed his second game due to a knee injury, while Gary Harris was out with a groin strain. Orlando started rookie Anthony Black, Jalen Suggs, Franz Wagner, Paolo Banchero, and Goga Bitadze.

Carter is averaging 9.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 29.4 minutes per game this season. The center averaged at least 15 points per contest over the last two campaigns.

Orlando acquired the former Duke center from the Chicago Bulls in 2021 in exchange for former All-Star Nikola Vucevic.
