It was much closer than Miami wanted it to be, but the third-ranked Hurricanes were finally able to escape a Florida State upset bid with a 43-35 victory in double overtime.

The Hurricanes answered a touchdown by the 20.5-point underdog Seminoles in the first overtime to force a second extra session, and Malachi Toney took over from there.

The electric receiver scored the go-ahead touchdown and then passed for the two-point conversion on an option play.

Florida State appeared to be in position for a potential game-tying two-point conversion in double overtime after a stunning Hail Mary touchdown on 4th-and-21, but the Seminoles were whistled for holding on the play to negate the score.

The Seminoles weren't done yet, with another Hail Mary on 4th-and-31 heading towards the end zone and Duce Robinson. It appeared Robinson secured an unbelievable catch but the ball eventually ended up in the hands of a Miami defender for the interception.

Miami avoided becoming the fifth AP top-8 team to lose Saturday with the narrow win.
