Analysis:Smith is working his way back from thumb surgery and has apparently hit no snags in the recovery process thus far. T.J. Bass has been serving as the Cowboys' starting left guard to begin the season, but he'll shift into a reserve role once Smith -- a three-time Pro Bowl selection -- is ready to return to action.
