The NFL announced Wednesday that it's suspending Buffalo Bills defensive back Sam Franklin Jr. for one game without pay for spitting at a Las Vegas Raiders player during Sunday's game.

The league said the incident occurred with 1:32 left in the fourth quarter, after the Raiders made an extra point.

However, Franklin denies the allegation and will appeal the one-game ban, a source told The Ringer's Tom Pelissero.

If upheld, Franklin would begin serving his suspension on Oct. 26 and would be eligible to return on Nov. 2, following Buffalo's contest against the Baltimore Ravens on Nov. 1.

Franklin is the second Bills defensive back to be disciplined for spitting during the team's 33-30 win over the Raiders. On Monday, the NFL suspended safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson for one game after he spat toward a group of Raiders players following a verbal clash with tight end Brock Bowers.

Franklin is in his second year with the Bills and primarily plays on special teams.
