Connor Hellebuyck will make his debut with the New Jersey Devils on the road against the Dallas Stars on Tuesday, head coach Sheldon Keefe announced.
The goaltender has participated in just one practice with the Devils since being acquired Friday in a blockbuster trade from the Winnipeg Jets.
"If you're asking me, I'm ready today," Hellebuyck said after Monday's practice.
Hellebuyck went 23-23-11 with an .895 save percentage and a 2.86 goals-against average with the Jets last season, the worst campaign of his NHL career. He won the Hart Trophy and his third career Vezina Trophy the year prior as he backstopped the Jets to a Presidents' Trophy with a league-best 47 wins and eight shutouts.
The Devils enter Tuesday with a team save percentage of .878, which ranks 22nd in the NHL. Jake Allen and Nico Daws shared the net before Hellebuyck's arrival, although the latter was sent to Winnipeg as part of Friday's trade.
