The New York Knicks are signing former Los Angeles Lakers first-round pick Dalton Knecht to a two-way contract, Knecht's agents told ESPN's Shams Charania.
The forward was waived by L.A. on Monday ahead of the 2026-27 campaign after spending his first two NBA seasons with the Lakers.
Knecht, 25, averaged 9.1 points and shot 37.6% from distance while appearing in 78 games as a rookie. However, he fell out of the JJ Redick's rotation in his second year, playing just over 10 minutes per game across 54 appearances last season.
The former Tennessee sharpshooter was taken 17th overall by L.A. in 2024. His first year as a pro was briefly disrupted when he was part of a trade for then-Charlotte Hornets center Mark Williams that was rescinded days later after Williams failed a Lakers physical.
The Knicks are waiving Kevin McCullar Jr. to create a spot on the roster for Knecht, sources told SNY's Ian Begley. New York now has Knecht, Jaden Akins, and Tyler Nickel on two-way contracts for this season.
