LSU quarterback Walker Howard is entering the transfer portal after one season with the Tigers, reports Mike Scarborough of TigerBait.com.

A former four-star recruit, Howard joined the school as the 42nd overall recruit and third-ranked dual-threat quarterback in the 2022 class on the ESPN 300.

Howard didn't attempt a pass during the 2022 season until the fourth quarter of LSU's blowout victory over Purdue in the Citrus Bowl. He completed 2 of 4 attempts while carrying the ball three times for 18 yards.

Howard was soon expected to compete for the Tigers' starting job. LSU has plenty of depth at quarterback, though, as both Jayden Daniels and Garrett Nussmeier are returning in 2023. Daniels, who transferred to LSU last year after three seasons at Arizona State, completed 68.6% of his passes for 2,913 yards and 17 touchdowns against three interceptions through 14 appearances in 2022. He also led the Tigers with 885 yards and 11 scores on the ground.

Howard's father, Jamie, played quarterback at LSU from 1992-95.

The Tigers posted a 10-4 record in their first year under head coach Brian Kelly.
