Michigan freshman quarterback Tommy Carr made his first start Saturday against No. 6 Indiana.

Carr received the nod over Bryce Underwood, who Michigan benched at halftime in last weekend's 21-18 victory against Penn State.

Carr, the grandson of former Michigan coach Lloyd Carr and younger brother of Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr, led Michigan on three touchdown drives in the second half, including a 12-yard run to seal the win with 2:58 remaining.

Head coach Kyle Whittingham declined to name his starter ahead of Saturday's game despite calling Carr's performance against the Nittany Lions "smooth" and "efficient."

Underwood, the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2025 SC Next 300 recruiting class, had started every contest for the Wolverines since arriving at Michigan last year. The sophomore has completed 58% of his passes for 924 yards, five touchdowns, and six interceptions in six games this season.
