Defending champion Indiana staved off an upset bid from 20.5-point underdog Minnesota on Saturday in one of the most dramatic finishes in program history.

Seconds after the Golden Gophers took a three-point lead with a 60-yard field goal, the Hoosiers booted a 60-yarder of their own to force overtime.

It's rare enough to see college teams hit 60-yard field goals, but for both kickers to notch career-long kicks - as Luke Drzewiecki and Paddy McAteer did - under intense pressure seconds apart is downright astonishing. It was even more surprising that Indiana made its attempt as the Hoosiers had already botched three field goals Saturday due to a combination of bad kicks and poor snaps.

Once Indiana exhaled, it wasted no time in the extra frame, with backup quarterback Grant Wilson hitting Charlie Becker for a touchdown on the first play.

The Golden Gophers got the ball inside the Indiana 5-yard line on their possession but were unable to punch it into the end zone, and a sack ended the game.

It's the second straight overtime win for Curt Cignetti's program after the Hoosiers emerged with a 13-6 victory at Michigan last week.

Indiana reaches its much-needed bye with an 8-1 record and some serious questions around starting quarterback Josh Hoover. He was replaced at halftime after taking a significant hit following a first-half interception, but he'd been largely ineffective through the air once again.

Hoover didn't complete a pass in the second half at Michigan and was 8-for-19 for 119 yards with a touchdown and a pick versus Minnesota.
