Seattle's Mason Williams: Excels in preseason upset

Rotowire• ·

Williams (hip) logged 19 points (6-15 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four assists and two steals across 27 minutes during Seattle's exhibition win at Oregon.

Analysis:

Even though Williams was not part of Seattle's starting lineup, the way he played should earn him consideration for a move up. He led Seattle in points and assists to help the Redhawks upset a Big Ten team, even if their win was a preseason victory. Williams transferred from out of a Power Four school himself after sitting out Iowa State's 2025-26 season and wanting to re-establish himself. The Seattle-born guard not only returned to Washington (the state) but also for a bigger program to showcase his overall talent. Williams has previously shown he has what it takes to excel, having averaged 13.9 points, 2.4 assists and 1.4 three-pointers made with Eastern Washington two years ago.
