Sunderland's Brian Brobbey: Ready to feature against Bournemouth

Rotowire• ·

Brobbey (hamstring) is ready to play during Sunday's Premier League clash against Bournemouth after returning to full team training, according to coach Regis Le Bris, per Phil Smith of the Sunderland Echo. "They're training with the squad now, so they will be ready."

Analysis:

Brobbey has recovered from the hamstring injury he sustained while representing the Netherlands during the international break, which forced him to miss Saturday's 2-0 defeat against Brighton. The Dutch striker returned to the matchday squad for Thursday's 2-1 Europa League victory over SCU Torreense but remained an unused substitute as Sunderland completed a second-half comeback. Having resumed full training, Brobbey is now in contention to make his competitive return against Bournemouth, although coach Le Bris could manage his minutes following the recent setback. The forward has scored three goals across five Premier League appearances this season, all coming in the 5-3 defeat to Manchester City on Sept. 20. With Wilson Isidor (undisclosed) doubtful for Sunday's fixture, Brobbey could even return directly to the starting lineup if deemed fit enough.
