New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough is playing with two broken bones in his left hand, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Shough suffered the injury during the Week 4 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football. He played in the following game last Sunday, a 23-13 defeat to the Minnesota Vikings.
The 27-year-old will not miss any time, Schefter adds. New Orleans has not publicly acknowledged the injury, but Shough is taping his ring and pinky fingers together for support. He also handed off the ball with his opposite hand against Minnesota.
Shough struggled against the Vikings, completing 16 of 25 passes for 96 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions. His 38.1 passer rating was his worst single-game mark since entering the league, according to TruMedia.
Saints owner Gayle Benson criticized the team following the Week 5 loss, calling the 1-4 start "unacceptable." Shough said this week he shares Benson's frustrations, but believes New Orleans is primed to get things moving in the right direction.
New Orleans faces the New York Giants on Sunday, then heads to Paris to play the Pittsburgh Steelers before a bye week. Shough has been a full participant in practice leading up to Sunday's game against New York.
Shough has completed 66.8% of his throws this season for 1,299 yards with 10 total touchdowns and eight turnovers.
