The New England Patriots placed wide receiver Romeo Doubs on injured reserve due to a shoulder injury, the team announced Monday.
Doubs will miss at least four games while on the reserve list. New England signed defensive back Elliott Davison to the 53-man roster in a corresponding move.
Doubs exited Sunday's game against the New York Jets after hauling in a 42-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter. The 26-year-old appeared to land hard on his shoulder and remained on the ground for several minutes after the play.
The Nevada product is in the midst of his first season with the Patriots after signing a five-year, $68-million contract in free agency in March. New England also acquired A.J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles to bolster the supporting cast around quarterback Drake Maye.
Doubs has caught 14 passes for 261 yards and three touchdowns in six games this season. He spent four seasons with the Green Bay Packers, where he recorded 202 catches for 2,424 yards and 21 scores.
The Patriots placed Doubs on injured reserve a day after Brown made his return to the starting lineup. Brown, a three-time Pro Bowl receiver, injured his ankle in the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks and missed the next four games.
