The Ottawa Senators signed head coach Travis Green to a multi-year contract extension through 2031, the team announced Monday.
"When I was in the search to identify our head coach two years ago, it was clear to me that Travis had the qualities to move our team forward," general manager Steve Staios said in a statement. "I have watched him implement systems and structures that have reinforced my belief in his coaching abilities. We share the same vision and philosophy and are confident we can continue to build on our team."
Green has amassed a 95-60-18 record with the Senators, leading the club to playoff berths in the last two seasons. Ottawa was eliminated in the first round on both occasions.
Green joined the Senators after a 21-game stint as the head coach of the New Jersey Devils. He also oversaw the Vancouver Canucks' bench for five seasons from 2017-22.
Ottawa is off to a 6-3-0 start this season after trading former captain Brady Tkachuk over the summer.
