Chicago Bulls center Wendell Carter Jr. will be re-evaluated in four weeks after an MRI on Tuesday confirmed a severe right quad contusion, the team announced.
Carter has missed Chicago's last three games with the injury, which occurred when he collided with teammate Denzel Valentine during a five-on-five drill Jan. 20.
"Just a freak accident," Carter told NBC Sports' Rob Schaefer last Thursday. "It felt really bad when it first happened. I didn't know what it was when I got on the training table.
"I took a couple painkillers and it kind of went away, the pain kind of settled down a little bit. But it's doing good. I think I'm trending in the right direction."
The former seventh overall pick is averaging 12.8 points, eight rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game in his third season.
