The Minnesota Timberwolves and forward Jaden McDaniels have agreed to a one-year, $40-million extension that keeps him under contract through the 2029-30 season, his agents told ESPN's Shams Charania.

McDaniels now has a total of four years and $124 million left on his deal, Charania adds.

The one-year extension gives him the flexibility to possibly ink another one as early as 2028 or enter free agency in 2030 with 10 years of service time. An additional extension that comes in 2028 or beyond will carry a starting salary up to 140% of his new $40-million salary, per Charania.

McDaniels averaged a career-high 14.8 points per game last season.

The 26-year-old was voted to the All-Defensive second team during the 2023-24 campaign.
