Ohio State's incredible victory over Indiana to end the Hoosiers' 22-game winning streak came at a high price after quarterback Julian Sayin was injured in the fourth quarter.
Sayin took a huge hit on a sack in the final frame and immediately went to the locker room after the play. He eventually returned to the sidelines with his arm in a sling and will miss several weeks, coach Ryan Day told Jake Trotter of ESPN.
Luke Fahey entered at quarterback for the visitors and converted a first down via penalty before Ohio State was eventually forced to punt. He finished 0-for-2 on the day, but the defense carried the Buckeyes the rest of the way to the win.
Sayin completed 15-of-29 passes against Indiana for 235 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions before leaving.
It goes without saying that it's a massive loss for the Buckeyes in their quest to return to the CFP. While the team now has a bye to get Fahey set to start, the closing five games are among the toughest in the Big Ten.
Ohio State travels to USC following the bye before hosting Oregon and Northwestern. A trip to Nebraska and the annual rivalry game with Michigan at home end the slate for the Buckeyes.
