The Associated Press top-25 poll has been around since 1936, but what we saw Saturday has never happened in its entire history.
Top teams falling all over the sport ensured that Saturday was the first time the AP poll has seen five different top-7 teams all lose.
Things kicked off in the early window with No. 7 Texas dropping its second straight contest - this time at the hands of an unranked Florida team coming off back-to-back defeats.
The blockbuster contest between No. 4 Ohio State and No. 5 Indiana guaranteed a top-8 loss, and it was a matter of inches that decided which team would take the defeat. Hoosiers' receiver Nick Marsh appeared to be wide-open for a game-winning touchdown, but he couldn't secure the grab without his toe coming down out of bounds. That turned the ball over on downs and delivered the win for the Buckeyes.
The third upset was the most shocking, with No. 1 Georgia falling at home to Auburn on a walk-off field goal. That marked the first time since 1990 that the No. 1 team in the AP poll fell in back-to-back weeks to unranked opponents. It also ended a 53-game winning streak for the Bulldogs against unranked teams.
Shortly after Georgia lost, it was No. 6 Alabama's turn, as the Crimson Tide got spanked 26-10 by Tennessee. The loss was Alabama's second in a row - the first time the school suffered back-to-back defeats in the same regular season since 2007. It also marked the first time since 1996 that Alabama, Georgia and Texas all lost on the same day.
The final top-8 loss of the night was also a guarantee, with both Notre Dame and BYU inside that number in the rankings. However, it was the home underdog Cougars that secured the dramatic 28-24 victory with a stop on the final play of the game. That ensured the defeat for the 2nd-ranked Irish, and made it the first day since Nov. 17, 2012 that both No. 1 and No. 2 teams lost.
