Detroit Red Wings interim general manager Shawn Horcoff said last week that he has "zero interest" in trading Simon Edvinsson, but apparently that hasn't stopped him from speaking with other teams.
The Red Wings continue to have trade discussions with up to 10 teams regarding the restricted free-agent defenseman, reports TSN's Pierre LeBrun. The San Jose Sharks and Boston Bruins are reportedly among the interested clubs. The Bruins were previously reported to have called the Red Wings about Edvinsson.
Horcoff and Edvinsson had a face-to-face meeting last week, and Horcoff still prefers to sign the stalwart blue-liner, LeBrun reports.
Edvinsson reportedly indicated earlier in October that he would prefer a trade. He was in Detroit for the start of training camp but returned to Sweden before the start of the season.
The 23-year-old recorded 25 points in 72 games last season while averaging a career-high 22:21 per contest. He managed 31 points in 2024-25, his first full NHL campaign.
The Red Wings drafted Edvinsson sixth overall in 2021. He boasts a 6-foot-6, 225-pound frame and above-average skating speed.
