Basketball's reigning champs have been immortalized at the Garden.
The New York Knicks raised their 2026 NBA championship banner at Madison Square Garden on Thursday ahead of their season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers. It's the Knicks' first banner-raising ceremony since they last won the title in 1973.

The Knicks also hung an NBA Cup banner a few hours before the game after initially deciding not to. The previous two winners of the NBA in-season tournament each commemorated their victory with a banner.
